For the last six months or so, a team of people have been going into the centre of Cheltenham and offering to pray for people who are sick.
Last Saturday one lady came and sat down on the benches where the team were gathered: she had been suffering from severe back pain. She said that she had not suffered with this ever before, but it had been constant for the past two weeks. A couple of the Trinity team prayed for her, and within a few moments the stabbing pains she had been getting in her back stopped, and she left greatly encouraged by what God had done.
Another lady sat down on the same bench that day, again with back pain. This time when the team prayer for her, she said that the pain was still there but she felt an incredible sense of peace surrounding her. Chris Banwell, one of Trinity’s associate pastors, who leads the team comments: “We can never truly explain why God physically heals some people and not others when we pray, but whatever happens, we know that God meets people in a very real way where they are at”.

Amongst the many stories of God meeting people in this way, there is one of a lady who asked for prayer – not for herself – but for her daughter who was suffering with the later stages of MS. As the team prayer for her, she felt God touch her, and was overwhelmed by the sense of His love for her. As she cried the team continued to pray for her and her daughter. “We are continuing to pray for that lady’s daughter, and hope that one day soon she will come and say hello to us, and tell us of what God has done in her life” Chris concludes.
