GET INVOLVED AT HOME
Neal Pirolo comments that in terms of global mission, those who go and those who serve as senders are like two units on the same cross cultural outreach team. Both are equally important. Take a look at the following ideas – please let us know if you feel you can help in any of these areas:
- Send out newsletters: often our partners have less than reliable electricity or internet supplies, making it hard for them to spend time putting documents / photos into a helpful format. Could you help them out?
- Lend them your house/car: when partners come back for annual breaks, they often need somewhere to stay and something to drive! Is your house sometimes empty? Can you help out with this?
- Themed evenings: we encourage the partners to host themed evenings when they are home. They require a lot of work – could you help behind the scenes to make these evenings a success?
- Sponsor a New Wine ticket: many of our partners love to go to New Wine and find it a great blessing and time to catch up with friends, but find it expensive. Could you put some money towards a place for them?
- Check their house: some partners have their own home here, but need someone to keep an eye on it for them and check post. Do you have a few spare moments to do this?
- Charity events: some of our links require funding for projects they run. Charity dinners, for example, require lots of work. Could you help out as part of a team to organise something like this?
- Pray for them: prayer is a vital part of the support process. If you can’t get to a regular meeting, contact us or check here for any important prayer requests.
- Buy them a gift: little gifts can make partners feel that people care – an iTunes voucher, a meal out, the latest worship CD, an M&S voucher for them to shop when they are back.
- Holiday home: do you have a holiday home they could use for retreat for a week? Let us know.
We also have a Global Mission Think Tank that meets throughout the year, to discuss new ideas to support and promote the area of Global Mission. Anyone with a heart and passion for this ministry is very welcome to join.
