About Lighthouse Ministry
Lighthouse Ministry provides an opportunity to receive prayer if you are experiencing problems, pain, difficult issues or distress that prevent you from enjoying and living in the freedom and fullness of life that Jesus promised.
Past experiences can cause problems in the present if they have led us to hold beliefs about ourselves, the world or God that are not true. Jesus is our creator and has been with us throughout our whole lives (Psalm 139), so by his Spirit He can reveal the truth to us and restore us to be the people that God intended.
In this prayer ministry team members seek to be led by the Holy Spirit as they encourage us to hear Jesus speaking into the situation and releasing us to know the love of our Heavenly Father more fully. Past wounds, some of which may be deep, are brought into the healing Light of the presence of Jesus; false beliefs are replaced as the truth is revealed; demonic oppression and generational ties are broken. The power of the Holy Spirit allows us to see our true identity in Christ more clearly, leading us into growth and maturity.
We operate under the name of Lighthouse as a user friendly term, but the basis of all our training is Theophostic Prayer Ministry and can be checked out at the website of that name.
Our Team
Each person who is invited to train for this ministry is expected to be a participating member of a cluster, praying for others both in cluster and after church services, attending Hungry for God nights on a regular basis, and receiving Lighthouse ministry at least twice a year themselves. Team members all complete the full Theophostic programme most of which is now on DVDs which ensures a world wide standard.
We work in pairs, so each Lighthouse session is led by an experienced team member who has completed the full training, usually supported by someone who is part way through training. All team members have themselves received ministry and are committed to seeing the healing work of Christ in people’s lives.
Receiving Lighthouse Ministry
If you wish to receive Lighthouse Ministry and you are a member of Trinity Church (either adult or youth) you are encouraged to…
- Commit to seeking God in your own quiet times, both previous to, and during the time of ministry
- Commit to a daily time of prayer and Bible reading
- Be regular in your attendance of both cluster and church meetings
- Seek prayer at the end of each service
- Have a friend or prayer partner to support you through the journey
Fill in a Lighthouse card (found in both church and Trinity House) and hand it personally to either Chris Hughes, Mike Smith, Erica Hanson or Ruth Graham. This person will then spend a few minutes talking with you. They can answer any questions you may have and assess the urgency of your request. This initial conversation also helps us to allocate the most appropriate team members to pray with you. Lighthouse sessions are arranged at a time mutually suitable to all, and usually last about two hours. Further sessions may then be arranged.
