Led by Rich and Kath Warner

Getting married is probably one of the most exciting, and the most expensive, things that we ever do! And it changes our lives for ever! However,  most of us spend many hours preparing for the big day, and very little time investing in the days, months and years after that day, which is really when all the hard work begins! Whenever we decide to do something new, we organise some training and research to prepare ourselves for the task ahead. We make time to learn about what we are trying to do, so that we can make the most of the new experience.

How much more important are our marriages?! We need to spend time before our wedding day, thinking and talking together about some of the issues that could cause difficulty in the years ahead. Thinking about these things in advance means that we may be better equipped to deal with them when they come up during our married life. Some of these important issues are: communication, commitment, spending time together, dealing with parents and in-laws, money, our values, children, our sexual relationship. Those of us who are married know how challenging some of these areas are, and we have to continue to work hard to develop better and better marriages all the time.

That’s why it’s important for newly married couples to build open and honest relationships with couples who’ve been married for a longer period of time. These couples can provide excellent advice and support, and can reassure people that we all struggle with some of these issues at different times in our marriages. They can help and encourage us when we’re finding it tough, and it can be helpful to know we’re not alone. We believe that marriage is a gift from God, that enriches the lives of the couple, their family and the wider community.

We believe that marriage is for life, and that investing in our marriages before the big day is one of the best ways to  help us have a long, happy and fulfilled marriage.

Next course: starts Thursday 6th November for five weeks.
