What is re:connect?
re:connect is the network of small groups that happen once a month on a weekday. The groups are organised by year groups and have a very chilled out feel. Each group has around 6 or 7 members, and each member of the group will take turns to host their group at their house. In small groups we eat together, chat, play games, read the bible and do anything else you can think of to help our faith move forward! All the youth involved love their groups!

Why do youth need small groups?
Young people find small groups really helpful for loads of reasons! Here’s a few…

  1. They are a safe place to ask big questions, and be honest and real
  2. They are a great place to build friendships
  3. They are great fun

Does each small group have its own identity?
The small groups usually develop from friendship groups that form on Sundays through the re:encounter discipleship groups. They have their own name, which the group decide on together eg GROW (God Rocks Our World) and they are organised to fit around the members’ busy lives.

How do they link in to what we do in re:encounter?
The great thing about re:encounter is that you learn loads about Jesus, God and the Holy Spirit, but they don’t always feel like a place where you can be really open, and ask that question you’ve never dared ask. In small groups you can go that one step further and talk about the bigger issues and questions you have with a close group of friends – much less intimidating!

Can I start my own?
If you would like to join a group or start a new group, speak to Anna Traill. We’ll help you get up and running, organise a day and time that works for everyone and get the conversation flowing. Then depending on age we’ll either continue meeting with you or arrange to come along less frequently and allow you get on with it yourselves.

How often are they?
We prefer you to meet at least once a month.

Where are they?
Each group meets in the homes of the people in that group. If you can’t host the group for whatever reason, no problem, you can still be part of a group.
