What is the Garage?
The Garage is our new drop-in centre where we aim to meet the holistic needs of those who are homeless and in other ways vulnerable in our community. Guests can come and relax, drink coffee and enjoy a meal. They can use our hot shower and laundry facilities for washing and drying clothes. We also have a clothing bank for both men and women, and a food bank where we give out non-perishable items to those in crisis need. We are planning to run different activities and courses during the day time, including an alpha course, arts and crafts, C.V writing and debt counselling.
What Goes On?
We have a women’s only group which runs on a Thursday from 12 – 3pm called Women Together. Vulnerable women can come and have lunch and rest in the Garage with the security and comfort of other women. We run many different types of activities, such as baking, nail-painting, card-making, jewellery-making and ceramics.
How can I help?
Please do look out for requests for non-perishable food items, warm clothing, sleeping bags etc, as we aim to give out such items on a regular basis. If you feel you would like to offer any of your time to help the work in the Garage, or if you would just like to find out more about what we do please email Sue Lang.
