In praying ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ we all commit to playing our part in the renewal of the nations and the transformation of communities.Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury
What is Thy Kingdom Come?
Thy Kingdom Come is a global prayer movement for evangelism and witness, which invites Christians around the world to pray between Ascension and Pentecost for more people to come to know Jesus Christ.
What started out as an invitation from the Archbishop’s of Canterbury and York in 2016 to the Church of England has grown into an international call to prayer for the whole church.
What’s happening at Trinity?
As a church between Thursday 30th May to Sunday 9th June we will be joining with millions of Christians across the globe in praying for fruitfulness in our Christian witness and personal evangelism. We want to see a move of God in Cheltenham, in the lives of friends, colleagues, neighbours and families that leads to people coming to a personal faith in Jesus.
Pray for 5 People
As part of the 10 days of praying together we are invited to specifically pray for 5 people each. A leather wristband for you to wear and tie 5 knots as a reminder to pray for your friends will be available in church from Sunday 12th May.
For 2019 ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ have invited world renowned bible teacher and writer N.T. Wright, to contribute to daily podcasts that will be sent out through the Thy Kingdom Come App.

We will also be sending out an email to everyone in church that will have a 45 second video encouragement from a member of the congregation to inspire us to pray for particular areas in our community.
If you know someone who’s not registered on Churchsuite please do invite them to do so by following this link below.
We’ll also be creating spaces for us to come together to pray in gatherings, large and small at:
Hungry: Thursday 30th May – Hungry 8:00pm, Trinity Church
Join us as we call out together to the Lord in worship and intercession.
Daily Prayer from Thurs 30th May to Sat 8th June, Trinity church.
Trinity Church will be open between 7:00am-8:00am and 12:00pm-2:00pm daily to spend time in quiet waiting on the Lord and with the opportunity to pray with others. Simply come to church and pray for as much or as little as you can.
Of course our prayer for evangelism and witness can happen in all kinds of settings. Please don’t feel restricted to the co-ordinated gatherings. Why not pray with a work colleague, your spouse, children or an accountability partner? If you’re in a Life group or you lead one, why not try out these ideas together:
- Prayer walk around the streets where your Life group meets.
- Take it in turns to put someone on the hot seat at your group meeting and pray for specific evangelistic fruitfulness in their workplace.
- Pray for each other for opportunities to invite people to Alpha.
- Share the list of everyone’s 5 people, make a combined larger list and commit to praying for each person together over the next 3 months. Why not?
As you prepare to join us, here’s a great encouragement from Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and New Wine’s National Leader, Paul Harcourt.
