Trinity’s response to the Ukraine Refugee Crisis
We stand with our Ukrainian brothers and sisters who are facing the incredibly difficult decision to leave their home and country for safe refuge. Alongside prayer, part of our physical response is that we have been able to raise money for work on the ground in Ukraine and we have partnered with the Sanctuary Foundation.
Though there are a vast number of things to pray for that are specific and that change everyday (by keeping in touch with the news we will naturally pick up what some of these things are to pray for), if you are looking for a place to start, we have found the resources at 24/7 prayer to be helpful: https://www.24-7prayer.com/resource/ukraineprayer/.
We are so thankful to have been able to have raised, so far, over £17000 together. This will be split between two projects; the first is in Western Ukraine supporting refugees from the East, and the other is to an orphanage of 165 children who have fled to Germany.
Sanctuary Foundation exists to support potential sponsors and resource individuals, community groups, churches, schools and businesses in stepping up to build the vital provision necessary for Ukrainian refugees. They have been assisting the government in the roll out of the ‘Homes for Ukraine’ scheme and we at Trinity want to be part of this. You can find out more here.
So what can you do?
It’s important we prepare ourselves before we take any action. As it stands, the government is still working out the process of sponsorship and resourcing, so, although this is an immediate crisis, there is time to pray, consider and wait on direction from God.
There is a growing community of people in Trinity who have expressed interest in hosting Ukrainian refugees in their homes, and we would like to ensure that we are connected to build as strong a welcome as we can. If you have questions or would appreciate a conversation about this work, please contact Dave Lee through the Trinity office via email@example.com or call 01242 808 780.
